About Aikido of Modesto
At Aikido of Modesto, we believe that anyone, men and women, young and old, can participate and develop themselves.
It does not matter at what level of ability you begin with, but that you will try to advance or deepen your practice a little bit with each class. The dojo atmosphere is one of openness and generosity dedicated to the hard work and success of all students.
Born out of a love for deep transformation, Aikido of Modesto is committed to meeting you where you are and taking you forward to where you want to be. Our instructors are here to assist you and are dedicated to helping you make the connection between your physical practice and your inner wisdom and spirit.
Aikido of Modesto became an ASU (Aikido Schools of Ueshiba) affiliate in 2003. ASU is headed by Master instructor, Shihan Mitsugi Saotome who apprenticed with Sensei Ueshiba for 15 years. Our chief instructor, Ken Nisson, is a 6th degree Black belt who has been training in Aikido for over 45 years.
At the end of 2013, our dojo along with Modesto Judo and Jujitsu Club and Shaolin Kung Fu relocated to a space to include the Yoga Loft and Personal Training.
